Statement Issued By “Nuff” Respect on Behalf of Ashia Hansen

30th September 2005

Ashia Hansen has announced that she will not be competing in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in March 2006. Ashia has decided that the Commonwealth Games is too early for her to be ready to defend her title and could jeopardise her comeback from the horrendous knee injury she suffered at the 2004 European Cup.

She is looking forward to getting back to full fitness over the winter months and beginning competition in the outdoor season, her aim being the European Championships in Gothenburg.

“Training is going really well and I’m determined to be back in full competition in time to defend my European Outdoor title in Gothenburg. I feel I would be rushing things if I competed at the Commonwealth Games and may not do myself justice.”
