I am pleased to have been cleared of the dangerous driving charge. I do, however, wish to express my deepest regret to all concerned and sincerely apologise for any suffering caused. I have consistently accepted liability and have done everything possible to assist the police with the case. I had in fact offered to plead guilty to the offence of careless driving last year. It was disappointing that the CPS were unwilling to accept this at the time and I am grateful that the jury have vindicated me. This terrible accident was caused by a momentary lapse in what has been over 30 years of driving safely and carefully.

I know that this incident will stay with me for a very long time and I can only sincerely apologise again for what remains one of the worst moments of my life.
