Retirement from Athletics

Following the news that I need to have surgery on my foot, I have taken the decision to retire from Athletics.

I was looking forward to competing in 2014 and especially excited about this year’s Commonwealth Games.   Having suffered a foot injury (yes again) last month and following consultation with a surgeon, I am now preparing to have an operation to fix the problem.

I have had an amazing career competing all over the world. My highlights were winning my first UK senior 100m title in 2005 and competing at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

There are so many people that I need to thank but two that I must mention here. Madeleine Western for transforming me from a club athlete to an Olympian, 10 years of hard work together but it was worth it. Linford Christie for helping me run my personal best time, placing me 3rd on the UK All-Time list. Madeleine and Linford have been amazing coaches, I learnt so much from both of them. They have also been great friends to me over the years, I owe them big time!

I am looking forward to continuing my work as a coach, working with Sprinters and Hurdlers at Brunel University, CHHP ( and Personal Space (
