The inaugural DHL First Nation Home for Sport Relief 2012 was launched at London’s Park Lane Hilton last Wednesday. Described as the ‘ultimate sporting showdown between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales’, celebrities and sports stars are split up into four teams and compete in running, rowing, cycling and sailing challenges for seven days. Taking place from March 10-17, participants include Iwan Thomas MBE, Dame Ellen MacArthur, Graeme Obree, Gethin Jones, Diarmuid Gavin, Andrea McLean, Craig Doyle, Gemma Atkinson, Sonia O’Sullivan, Chris Boardman, Thom Evans, Josh Lewsey and Gareth Thomas. To finish off the fundraiser, on March 25, 1,000 members of the public are invited to run six miles alongside some of the famous faces to help decide which nation is the winner.
