European Team Championships

The European Team Championships have drawn to a close with Britain finishing fifth. There were some amazing individual performances from Margret Adeoye, Laura Samuel, James Ellington, Conrad Williams, and both the relay teams. Three of these star performers are being coached by the only British man to have won gold medals in the 100 metres at all four major competitions, Linford Christie.

Margret Adeoye captained the team for the Championships and raced in the individual 400m which she won with a great time of 52.07 coming close to beating her personal best of 51.93 She also ran in the 4x400m where She ran a strong final leg to help the team finish fifth.

James Ellington appeared in a Relay side missing key runners such as James Dasaolu and Adam Gemilli. Despite missing these athletes the British team powered to victory as they claimed a Championship record and European lead of 38.21sec with James Ellington being a key component in their victory. Conrad Williams featured in an impressive 4X400m team where they were narrowly pipped to victory by France. Although they couldn’t claim the gold there were major positives for the side featuring Rabah Yousif, Delano Williams, Conrad Williams and Richard Buck who ran an impressive time of 3:00.54 behind the winning time of 3:00.47. Other impressive performances came from Laura Samuel who narrowly missed out on a medal finishing in 4th with a jump of 14.08 place gaining 9 points for Britain’s overall total.
