Andy Kay has worked within the sport and media industry for over 20 years.

At BBC Radio Sport, he was a colleague of the likes of John Inverdale, Alan Green, Ian Robertson, Jonathan Agnew and Steve Cram.

As a reporter, Andy was trackside at two Olympic Games (Barcelona and Atlanta), three World Athletics Championships and all the major Grand Prix athletics meetings in Europe. As the editor of the flagship Sport on Five programme, he was at the helm for such major events as World Cup Football and Rugby, FA Cup Finals, Royal Ascot, the Cheltenham Festival and the Boat Race.

Andy was Gary Lineker’s first producer when the former England striker retired from the game and joined the BBC and he also produced Michael Parkinson’s weekly chat show ‘Parkinson on Sport’ for Radio 5 Live.

After 12 years at the BBC, Andy left to join up with former Olympic hurdler Alan Pascoe where he was responsible for the promotion of televised athletics meetings in the UK. Additionally, he was the main stadium announcer for the Manchester and Melbourne Commonwealth Games, the Asian Games in Doha plus the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham. In 2008, he worked at the Beijing Olympics as a commentator for TV New Zealand and in March 2010, Andy was the in-field announcer for the World Indoor Championships in Qatar.

Following on from his role as Presentation Manager at the Delhi Commonwealth Games, in 2011, he will be one of two English announcers at the IAAF World Championships in South Korea.

Andy also enjoyed a 3 year spell as the Head of Sport for the Capital Radio Group, running a team of 50 staff as well as dealing with some of the biggest football clubs in the UK including Manchester United and Arsenal.

Andy is now freelance and is based in Javea on Spain’s Costa Blanca with his wife Karen, a former TV presenter, and young sons Olly and Finlay.

He is currently contracted by UK company Fast Track as the director of their Event Presentation team and by Great Big Events in Australia as a presentation manager, announcer and commentator. He also works as an event MC and is the resident host of the Aviva Athletics Awards.
