For many people like me who work out on a regular basis
or who have just begun to start getting in shape, working
can often throw a spanner in the works or place doubts into
your fitness plans. I think you do not have to derail your
routine simply because you feel there are not enough hours
in the day or you lack energy after work. The most important
thing to remember is that you have to maintain your fitness
programme as a priority and recognise that your success
depends on you sticking to it and writing out a plan.
In every day life we work to daily schedules I feel that
I work well to a fitness schedule also. I know that I need
to plan everything even down to my nutrition. If not I know
I would not have the right food options and would never
be able to fit in my training schedule. I know that if I
plan a task I am more likely to succeed at it. If not I
find that the day to day tasks of life always get in the
way. I train everyday, work schedule permitting, doing cardio,
abdominal exercises and strength training. Yes it is difficult
but all it really means is I carry a large sports holdall
with all of my kit inside daily. (It's good for the arms
anyway)
I don't need all the bells and whistles, just the basics
to keep me going. Sometimes I can not get to the track or
gym. Instead I will go for a 20 minute run and there is
my cardio covered. I do sit ups press ups and squats,
lunges in sets in my room at night and that covers a full
body workout. Exercise is not the only component to
my regime I also have to watch my diet. It is often extremely
hard to maintain a health diet whilst working fulltime.
(A sandwich is not enough) Fast food restaurants now have
healthier options, so I really have no excuse. I also always
have a bag of health snacks and drinks with me. i.e. oranges,
apples, protein bars and water. There are always better
options than crisps and fizzy drinks. These provide short-term
energy only which soon wears off.
