Amy had an excellent junior career at long jump, with the
highlight her European Junior silver medal in 2005. She first exceeded 6m with
6.03w to win the 2003 English Schools title. After winning the AAA U17 title
indoors she missed most of the summer season in 2004 with a hamstring injury
but returned at the end of the year to win the Commonwealth Youth title with
6.19w. In 2005 she set pbs
with 6.19 to win the Midland U20 title, 6.28w at
Overall she ranked as third in Britain that year and was again in 2006 when she won AAA U20 titles indoors and out, The latter was with a best ever of 6.40w after top junior wins in 6.37 and 6.38 in her two previous competitions. She disappointed, however, at the World Indoors here she did not qualify with 6.02. Formerly coached by Darrel Bunn, she switched to Ted King in September 2006.
She was in excellent form in the 2007 indoor season,
producing four personal bests at long jump to 6.32 in the Inter-City Challenge
at the Lea Valley Stadium and then leaping to 6.47 to take the
