Rachael Latham

As a Paralympian and multiple record holder, it was always Rachael’s dream to compete in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. This dream was dealt a blow when she suffered an injury which ruled her out of competitive swimming, but it did not deter her from being involved in the Games. Rachael joined Channel 4’s on screen talent programme in 2011 and in doing so, fulfilled her dream to be part of the BAFTA coverage of the London Paralympics.

As part of the Channel 4 on-screen media team at the London 2012 Paralympics, Rachael’s main role was in the Mixed-Zone Reporter/Presenter poolside at the amazing Aquatics centre.

Rachael reported for Channel 4 at the 2013 IPC World Swimming Championships in Montreal and the Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympics, where she was one of only two Reporters mountainside.  She then went on to Present the 2014 IPC European Swimming Championship in Eindhoven before interviewing fans and celebrities at the NFL Games played at Wembley later that year.

In the summer of 2015, Rachael enjoyed a guest slot on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff, leading up to the Glasgow IPC Swimming World Championships which she fronted for Channel 4.   Rachael was the infield host at the IPC World Athletics Championships in Doha and co-hosted the successful Manchester Sports Awards.

2016 will see Rachael back on our screens, first for Channel 4 at the IPC European Swimming Championships in Funchal and then as part of the BBC coverage of the Invictus Games in Florida, where she will be presenting and reporting across a wide range of Sports.

Rachael competed in the pool for Great Britain from 2004 -2010.  During this time she raced in the 2006 World Championships (winning silver and bronze medals) and the 2008 Paralympic Beijing Games.

During her swimming career, Rachael held a number of British, European and World records and still holds the following records in the S8 category -
200m butterfly (European Record) – 50m butterfly (World Record) – 200m backstroke (British Record).

Rachael finished her competitive career in 2010 due to an injury. In 2011 she graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a First Class Honours Degree in Sports Development.

For the last 2 years Rachael has been working for Sports for Schools as an Athlete mentor as well as the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
