Making a significant breakthrough in 2005, Katherine claimed 2nd place in the 60m at the AAA indoor Championships. This success was then swiftly followed in 2006 at the Busa Indoor Championships, placing both 1st and 2nd in the 200m & 60m respectively.

In 2009, Katherine joined Linford Christie’s training group which saw immediate results with her best run indoors for 5 years. This resulted in her claiming 1st place in both the 60m & 200m at the SEAA Indoor Championships. She then headed off with the group to a warm weather training camp in San Diego.

Katherine was part of the Great Britain and NI 4x100m team which travelled out to the European Championships Barcelona. Although she was disappointed not to return with a medal her her focus quickly moved onto success at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Lining up in the 100m Katherine ran a personal best of 11.45 in the 100m semi final. This earned her a place in the biggest races of her career to date the Commonwealth Games Final. After a controversial false start she managed to stay calm under pressure to claim the Silver Medal for her country in a new personal best time of 11.44, proving herself as a true Championship performer!

Katherine works as a Teaching Assistant in Plymouth where she lives with her daughter, Mia.

As well as sprinting, Katherine has set her sights on winning a place in the 2014 Winter Olympic Bobsleigh Team and has been recruited to start training in the winter of this year. If she is successful she will become one of only a handful of people who have competed at both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
