Jonathan Moore

Jonathan’s talent extends to both Long Jump and Triple Jump, his first success being the English School’s title in 1999 and Gold in the same event in 2000. This was to be a great year for Jonathan; he won the U17 Championships in both events and the School’s International and Commonwealth Youth Games in the Triple Jump.

He won the English Schools’ title and AAA U20 Gold in Long Jump in 2001 and grabbed Triple Jump Gold at the World Youth Championships, after getting Silver at the European Juniors.

Jonathan equalled the UK Junior Long Jump record with 7.98m in an International match against France and his first 8.00m jump came in 2002 when he pushed the British Junior Record out to 8.03m in Loughborough. This made him the first British Junior to jump eight metres.  He retained his AAA U20 title, but the 2002 season was cut short due to a knee injury.

The 2004 outdoor season started promisingly for Jonathan with a win in the Long Jump in Loughborough at the beginning of June where he jumped 7.57m.  He followed this up by winning the AAA’s U23 Championships in Bedford.

In 2005, Johnathan jumped a season’s best of 7.50m indoors at the Norwich Union Birmingham Grand Prix in February. He improved on this outdoors jumping 7.54m at the AAA’s in Manchester to gain 4th place. This was not however far enough to qualify for the World Championships in Helsinki.

An Achilles injury then prevented him competing in 2006 until September when he jumped an encouraging 7.79w and he was back in top form in 2007 jumping 8.04w/7.88.
